Richard Johnson* is a partner with Kent Employment Law, where he practices employment and human rights law.
Richard was called to the Bar in Alberta in 2007 and in British Columbia in 2010. Before joining Kent Employment Law, he practiced at a mid-sized firm in the areas of employment and labour law, human rights, education law and general civil litigation. Richard has represented and advised employees, public and commercial employers, not-for-profit organizations and foundations on a wide variety of employment matters.
Richard has a depth of litigation experience and has appeared at all levels of Court in both British Columbia and Alberta, as well as the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal.
Richard’s style and expertise are well-suited to organizations looking to effectively manage and retain their talent while minimizing risk and potential liability.
A recognized authority on the full spectrum of employment law issues, Richard is often called upon by the media to comment on topical workplace issues. He is the General Editor for the Lexis-Nexis publication Workers’ Compensation in British Columbia, has authored columns for several legal and other publications including The Lawyer’s Daily and Inspired Senior Living and is a regular contributor to our blog. Deeply committed to promoting and supporting Vancouver’s business leaders, Richard is a Board member of (and active participant in) the Vancouver Executives Association (VanEx), and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Vancouver Bar Association.
