My practice covers all matters arising prior to, during, or after employment. This includes employment contract review, termination, negotiating severance packages, constructive dismissal, allegations of cause, worker status (ie. employee vs. independent contractor), and non-competition or non-solicitation agreements.
I have particular experience and interest in files involving allegations of cause, constructive dismissal, and breach of non-competes. I’ve successfully argued employment cases at the provincial, supreme, and court of appeal levels, as well as Employment Standards and Employment Insurance appeals.
With experience representing both sides of employment matters, I am able to maintain an unbiased and realistic assessment of each case with a view to negotiating the best resolution as efficiently as possible. Clients tell me they appreciate my practical and down-to-earth approach as well as my tenacity when advocating on their behalf.
I am one of the firm’s founding partners (back in 2001). I attended the University of British Columbia where I obtained a degree in Philosophy in 1995. I received my law degree from the University of Victoria in 1998 and, after clerking at the B.C. Supreme Court, I was called to the bar in 1999.
I’m active in the Canadian Bar Association as a member of the Employment and Human Rights sections, and with the Women’s Lawyers Forum. I was an elected Director of the Vancouver Bar Association from 2003 – 2006 and served as its President in 2007.
