Associate, Gowling WLG
Kristen Cruise is an associate at Gowling WLG’s Vancouver office and a member of the firm’s Employment, Labour and Equalities Group.
Kristen advises and represents clients ranging from small businesses to multinational corporations in all areas of workplace law. She provides practical and strategic advice on a wide range of management-side employment and human rights matters, including the hiring and termination of employees and the duty to accommodate. She frequently advises employers on compliance with employment standards, workers compensation and human rights legislation. Kristen also drafts and reviews various workplace agreements and policies, including employment agreements, restrictive covenants and drug and alcohol policies.
As workplace discrimination and harassment complaints become increasingly common, Kristen has assisted clients by providing tailored, workplace-specific lectures to management staff regarding the law on discrimination and harassment, how to spot it and what to do if a complaint occurs.
Kristen’s litigation experience includes assisting clients with responding to wrongful dismissal actions, bullying and harassment complaints and discrimination complaints. She has appeared before the British Columbia Provincial Court, British Columbia Supreme Court, the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal and the British Columbia Employment Standards Tribunal.
